Cranks Crankset
crankset and bottom bracket compability?
i have a bike with 52/42/30T crank-set and VP118 mm bottom bracket, and i would like to get a carbon crankset but im not sure what size i need or are compatible with the one i have on my bike. the current one also has 3 chain-rings and i would like to only have 2, i wont shift to the smaller gears.
If you are thinking about buying a carbon crankset, there will probably be only one choice that will work with your new crank. Your old one will not work with it if you are thinking about changing from 3 to 2 chainrings. Most carbon cranksets are a 2 piece design, and the bottom brackets for that type of crank are relatively inexpensive. If you are willing to spend enough to buy a carbon crank, the extra you will have to spend on the new bottom bracket will not amount to much. Some of the better carbon cranks include the bottom bracket.
