do i need to change my chain if i change my rear derailleur?

i have an 8 speed sram 11T-32Tcassette that comes with a shimano alivio RD. im planning to to upgrade it with a shimano deore shadow m592.

It is recommended that when you change out a drive train component due to a failure (i.e. a chain break) you replace all components of your drive train (chain rings, casette, rear derailleur) but since it sounds more like an upgrade situation; you could get a chain pitch guage and check for any worn or stretched links, otherwise you are probably fine with your current chain.
